Here’s a peek at the inspiration for today’s sketch challenge…

For my card, I used the Tonic Vine Simplicity Pattern Border Punch. I chose a monochromatic scheme with four shades of blue. You can see how flexible this sketch is when you take a peek at the adorably spooky Halloween cards Amy & Jackie created!

And here’s a quick look at what Amy & Jackie designed – you can swing by each of their blogs to see step-by-step how they created these.

Welcome, and thanks for stopping by! We know you have a lot of blogs to visit today and we appreciate you’re taking the time to stop by and see what we’ve been up to at Tonic Studios! We’re thrilled to be partnering with Operation Write Home today in their World Card Making Day blog hop! For those of you who aren’t familiar with OWH, please take a minute to visit their website and see what they’re all about. The work they do is truly amazing — helping to keep our troops in touch with their friends and family at home.

Be sure to hop back to the Stars and Stamps blog and check out inspiration from designers around the globe!

Jackie, Amy, and I each designed a wintry card based on a different OWH Sketch (boy it was hard to choose!).

I had a lot of fun with Sketch #73, and turned it into a pocket!

After I folded the card in half, I trimmed off the upper portion at a slant and punched along the edge using the Tonic Simplicity Pattern Dotty Border Punch. Next I used my Tonic Border System and Sewing Holes Punch to punch the holes along each edge of the pocket. I wove twine through all of the holes and tied across the front of the card so the twine aligned nicely under the decorative border edge. I added a couple of the Tonic Snowflake Punches to the front of the card (antique copper brads in the center – adhered with Glue Dots). For the tag insert, I used the Tonic Duo Ticket & Tag Punch to snip off the tag corers. I cut a 1″ strip of kraft cardstock, punched the tip using the Tonic Simplicity Pattern Dotty Border Punch, folded it in half to create a tab to match my pocket and attached it to my tag with a brad.  Finally, I used the Tonic Medium Snowflake Light Punch and the Tonic Snowfall Border Punch to punch images out of the lower right corner of my tag.

Jackie chose Sketch #118 and created a fantastic blue and white Christmas card using the Tonic Simplicity Pattern Star Border Punch.  I love how she used a couple of the tiny stars on her sentiment piece!  She used a stamp by Hero Arts and Memento Nautical Blue ink.  Visit Jackie’s blog for more inspiration — Just Stamp It!

Amy turned the OWH Bonus Sketch B-5 into a delightful wintry snowman card!  She used the Tonic Simplicity Victorian Border Punch and the Snowman Multi Detail Punch with the  fun Winter Park Powder patterned paper from Echo Park.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Leave us a comment to let us know you stopped by to celebrate World Card Making Day.  We’ll choose one lucky reader to win a great prize pack of Tonic Studios punches and tools!
