This merry band of thousands of cardmakers is made up of Americans – and citizens of other nations too – who care about our military, and want to support them through creativity and encouragement. Crafters of all ages and levels of experience have participated since 2007…and are on the way to a landmark one MILLION cards!

Care packages filled with hundreds of handmade cards are sent to our contacts, restocking every 6-8 weeks, and are sent in time for the long journey back home to loved ones. Each box is packed with great care, alternating styles, colors, and cardmakers from all over the USA, creating “eye candy” for heroes who see only khaki around them. The topper on each box is a plastic bag filled with 20-30 letters from adults and children across the country, letters handed out especially to those in need of a positive word from the homefront.

Wow, what fun it’s been making rosettes using some of the Tonic Edger punches (there are a few border punches tossed in too)!

Here’s a quick “how to” and tools list for the rosettes below.  I’m sure I’ll be making more very soon… holiday packaging, wreath decor, napkin rings, so many ideas!

Note – each rosette was created from Bazzill Kraft Cardstock.

1. cut kraft cardstock to the desired width (2″ – 2 1/2″ works best)
2. score at every 1/4″ all the way across (1/2″ for a wider petal)
3. trim off one scored piece – you need an odd number of folds
4. choose your punch and punch the length of your strip
5. if you’re painting your rosette, you’ll want to do that now
6. accordion fold on each scored line
7. make sure you’re using a strong adhesive (I like to use hot glue), and glue the ends of the strip together to form a cylinder
8. place cylinder scalloped edge down – gather the top edge together while gently pressing down to form your rosette
9. using strong adhesive (again, I use hot glue), add glue to the center of your rosette and add a circle (1″ works well) to the center – flip it over, add a little more glue and another circle
10. chalk, mist, decorate, be creative!

Note – if you’re doing  a layered rosette (with a layer of patterned paper on top) – you’ll do steps 1-4 separately and glue together before folding.

Two – Edger 1 – Fancy #940, Ranger Paint Dabbers, Cosmo Cricket accents

Three – Edger 5 – Doily #944, Ribbon Slits #877, circles, black chalk, flower

Four – Edger 5 – Doily #944, Flower Detail Punch #929, patterned paper, brad

Five – Edger 2 – Scallop #941, Bazzill Flowers, antique brad, brown chalk

Six – Edger 3 – Lace #942, Ranger Color Wash, circle punches, pearl brad

Seven – Edger 3 – Lace #942, Ranger Black Paint Dabber, Ranger Perfect Pearls Mist – copper, circle punches, Halloween tag, My Mind’s Eye Haunted decorative brad, twine

Eight – Edger 5 – Doily #944, Butterfly Detail Punch #925, Ranger Perfect Pearls Mist – pearl, scallop circle, circle, rhinestones

Nine - Sewing Holes #873, red chalk, blue button, twine

Ten - Edger 4 – Fleur #943, Ranger Silver Paint Dabber, circles, pearl brad

You Give Me A Happy Heart

For this project I used the wave rule pack, cutter, and glass mat.  After cutting my wave strips, I distressed the edges using the Tim HoltzPaper Distresser and black liquid chalk.

After putting my layout together, I used my sewing machine to stitch along the edges of my wave pieces, as well to create a stitched frame on the outer edge of the layout.  My favorite part of the layout…the journaling along the skinny wave piece.

Summer Days

Love the look of the wide rounded corner – from the smallest rectangle in the Shape-Mate Rectangles set – this layout will definitely be used again and again because it can so easily be used for another theme by simply switching out the patterns and stickers.
