Operation Write Home – Birthday Bash Blog Challenge

First, a little bit about Operation Write Home, and the amazing work they do to help our troops stay in touch with their loved ones.

OWH Mission:

Supporting our nation’s armed forces
by sending blank handmade greeting cards to write home on,
as well as cards of gratitude to encourage them.

This merry band of thousands of cardmakers is made up of Americans – and citizens of other nations too – who care about our military, and want to support them through creativity and encouragement. Crafters of all ages and levels of experience have participated since 2007…and are on the way to a landmark one MILLION cards!

Care packages filled with hundreds of handmade cards are sent to our contacts, restocking every 6-8 weeks, and are sent in time for the long journey back home to loved ones. Each box is packed with great care, alternating styles, colors, and cardmakers from all over the USA, creating “eye candy” for heroes who see only khaki around them. The topper on each box is a plastic bag filled with 20-30 letters from adults and children across the country, letters handed out especially to those in need of a positive word from the homefront.

I’ll have to pass on the challenge.. as I don’t have any Tonic punches, guess I need to put that on my list of things to purchase.

Thanks for supporting OWH! I have and ADORE my 12″ Tonic guillotine trimmer, and tell others all the time they need one too. I don’t have any punches, though, bummer!

Thank you for supporting OWH! I won’t be able to participate since I have never seen your product sold here. I have heard a lot about your paper cutter from our fearless leader, Sandy, who raves and raves! Maybe I could find a way to get one…… hm?

Thank you for your support for Operation Write Home! I found your punches (on sale!!) at JoAnn’s online store and ordered the punch system and 3 punches. I can’t wait to try them. I don’t know if I will receive them in time to make a card for the challenge, but I am glad I found your product!

Your card is beautifully designed and photographed! I love the autumn theme! Thanks also for supporting OWH with this fun challenge. I’ve had a Tonic paper trimmer for several years now and would never own anything else! I also am fortunate enough to own one Tonic punch, so I was able to play along with this challenge! Whew! I am sooooo excited, I went to Impress Rubberstamps in Tukwila and got to see a whole shelf of cool punches – and had to pick up a few of course! They work so great – wow!
